Highlander’s freshman Niklas Pietzke finishes 8th overall at Truckee Invitational.

The start of the race was moved back due to possible freeze temperatures. The boys varsity race took off at 10:45am with the first lap quickly finishing under 5-minutes. Truckee sophomore lead the pack into the second lap at 11 minutes.

Incline’s freshman Pietzke would finish in 18:30 for eight overall and the first varsity freshman to cross the line. Zachary Homola crossed the line at 21:11, with junior’s Austin Rogers and Dillon Jenkins coming in at 50th and 54th overall for the day.

Highlander’s competed one runner short of the needed 5 for scoring on the day. The NIAA uses a ghost runner rule for state competition giving Incline the last spot of finishers for the fifth runner. This would tie Incline for second place with Coral Academy of Science in small schools under 500 population.

Incline will compete at Silver Stage on October 13th.
