Highlanders lead the charge at the start!

Junior Dillon Jenkins lead the pack early at shadow mountain park. The weather this past week in Incline saw gusty winds, rain and snow. The Highlanders were prepared for foul weather and yet were greeted with the sunshine breaking through the clouds at race start.

Jenkins lead out for his freshman teammates Niklas Pietzke and Zachary Homola. Pietzke would finish 5th in small school and 28th overall for the day. Pietzke said he left it out on the final climb charging up the hill. Coach Reymer was quoted as saying “proud to watch these guys come together and focus on the course today and give themselves unselfishly for each other and push each other in practice.”

Homola, would finish 9th with junior’s Austin Rogers, and Brent Wolf helping the Incline team finish ahead of Silver Stage. The Highlander’s will compete in a few weeks at Silver Stage. The field at the invitational saw Northern AA league Yerington field one runner, while Virginia City and Whittel’s fielded two runners.

The Highlanders will race next Saturday the 30th 10am at Truckee.
