Highlanders finish Reed Rotary Invite
Day two of the invite involved more Incline students. The weather started cool for the day and began to warm up in the afternoon. It was the four Lady Highjumpers taken top 10 honors. Jenkins cleared 5’0″ on her first attempt and secured 1st overall at the Large meet. Giangreco looked to have cleared 5’0″ and the bar touched briefly crashed down she finished 6th with Jada Moore in 10th.
Freshman quarterback Dylan Cleary made finals in the 100 and 200m. He would finish with personal bests in both events and a respectable 6th and 4th place finish in those events. The end of the meet Cleary, along with Brad Rye, Sebastian Hernandez, and thrower Chris Vaughn would hold onto 2nd in their heat of the 4×400.
Rye competed earlier in the day for his first meet pole vaulting clearing 7’06” and long jumped 14’08”. His leg in the 4×400 hand timed at 54.56 for the day. Fellow freshman Sebastian Hernandez missed his 1600 start but would set a new best time in the 800 at 2:15.02.
The Varsity men DJ Littleton made finals in the long jump at 19’9″ and would finish 6th overall securing the teams only 3-points.
The girls came out after the high jump to hit their Relay in the 4×100 easily finishing their heat first at 53.08 coming close to the school record set in 2008 of 52.05. This time places the Highlanders as a top seed in 2A state.
Moore entered her first 300- hurdles on Friday and appears to be a freshwoman to watch with her time of 53.89. Jada Moore was the third leg in the relay and also set a personal time in the 200 of 30.08.
The Highlanders will continue competing at the Thunder Invitational on April 7th in Rocklin, CA before they head for Spring Break. The young team continues to make strides scoring points at the large school meets.
