Incline swimmer breaks school record sprinting to state championship..

The NIAA state swimming and diving meet was held at Carson Aquatic Center. The Lady Highlanders Lauren Taylor, Ciera Winberg, Rachel Meyer, and Kate Rye, swam to a 3rd place finish in the 4 x 200 freestyle relay.

Senior Ciera Winberg finished the 500 freestyle event in 6th place.

Two time 50-meter free style defending NIAA State champion Kate Rye entered her 3rd state championship. Rye broke her own personal school record to become the fourth Nevada athlete to win 3 championships. Junior Rye’s time of 24.40 is the 11th best in state history for all divisions. Kate will have the opportunity to become the first Nevada student athlete to win 4 consecutive State Championships in 2018.

Rye continued her gold medal collection with a school record and overall win in the 100-meter freestyle at 52.84.

The Highlanders wish senior’s Laurel Taylor, Rachel Meyer, and Ciera Winberg the best for their dedication and hard work this season.
